Workshop sowing in sub-Saharan Africa

A workshop on sowing with Prof. Dr. P. Van Damme who explains the technique of scarification to the women’s community of Loumbol and Mbar Toubab..

Cows, goats and sheep eat seeds during grazing and after passage of the intestinal system, it returns to the land via the excrements (manure). Seeds need to be crushed to become water permeable so that they can germinate. In order to ‘prepare’ large quantities of seeds for large areas, they are scarified with sand, mortar and mortar or by temperature shock to make them water permeable.
